The Gift (Poem by Mary Oliver)
Be still, my soul, and steadfast.
Earth and heaven both are still watching
though time is draining from the clock
and your walk, that was confident and quick,
has become slow.
So, be slow if you must, but let
the heart still play its true part.
Love still as once you loved, deeply
and without patience. Let God and the world
know you are grateful.
That the gift has been given.
Be still, my soul, and steadfast.
Earth and heaven both are still watching
though time is draining from the clock
and your walk, that was confident and quick,
has become slow.
So, be slow if you must, but let
the heart still play its true part.
Love still as once you loved, deeply
and without patience. Let God and the world
know you are grateful.
That the gift has been given.

Ministries of Trinity Lutheran Church
Nurture (Education)
Jesus tells his disciples to “feed my sheep.” We interpret this as offering education, conversation, community, and presence for those that attend Trinity as well as for those who seek a church home. Specifically, we offer the following educational opportunities within the parish.
Our Sunday School program is open to children from pre-school age through Grade 6 and meets on Sunday mornings from September through May at 10:00 am. We are currently using a theme-based rotation model that teaches Biblical stories and spiritual topics throughout the year using a variety of activities.
Within the Sunday School program we, also, offer all generational events throughout the year when children, parents, and others come together for faith learning.
Our Confirmation (Catechetical) Instruction is an opportunity for students in Grades 7 and 8 to increase their faith through the knowledge of the God’s Word, Martin Luther’s Small Catechism, and life experience. Confirmation classes usually meet on Wednesday evenings beginning in September through May.
An Adult Study class will begin to meet every other Thursday in September. Those who gather will help in deciding the direction the study will take. We will focus on issues and faith and Biblical questions which are of concern to those who gather and to the greater community.
Throughout the year we, also, will offer opportunity for those who want to know more about the Lutheran faith and who desire to make Trinity their church home.
For all of our educational opportunities, we suggest you view our monthly newsletter for more specific information.
Fellowship (Celebrate)
The people of Trinity understand the need to fellowship. Social times and a good party reflect the ministry of Jesus and the chance we are given to build community as we get to know each other. Some of the highlights of those times throughout the year include:
Souper Bowl Sunday is a Sunday when we come together to share in worship, fellowship, and a soup and King Cake lunch while raising money for the Shepherd’s Pantry, our local food bank. With involvement of the Confirmation students this day has become a mainstay of our fellowship and service to the community. In the 9 years of our participation we have donated $9,500 to the Pantry. For more information about this worldwide ministry go to souperbowl.org
An Annual Church Picnic is usually held on Labor Day Sunday. On thois Sunday we hold one worship service at 10:00 am followed by a picnic on the church grounds. It is a relaxed time when family and friends can come together around food and fellowship.
An Annual Mothers and Daughters Dinner is usually held on the Saturday evening before Mother’s Day. It is a time when the men of the church come to together to cook and serve a ‘gourmet’ meal to the women of the church along with their families and friends. For instance, the entrée for 2011 consisted of chicken piccata, baked risotto with mozzarella, basil, and parmesan, and roasted asparagus.
Other dinner and events may be held throughout the year when we share in food, fellowship, and music. A TLC Gospel Group which consists of both musicians and voices from Trinity have been know to hold a concert or two throughout the year. As they lift their voice in song we are given opportunity to come together for the mission of the church and our ministry to the community.
